Bad Beat vs. The Suck Out

If you have played poker for any length of time then you are all to familiar with the bad beat, where you have a superior starting hand that somehow gets beat by an inferior hand. Your opponent thinks he made a brilliant play by calling your pocket Aces with that 6/7 off suit and somehow spikes two pair. All this after a substantial pre-flop raise that make most strong hands crumble...
Then there is the suck out!  This is where a King/ Ten calls the pocket Kings and somehow spikes another ten on the river card sending the pocket kings to the wall of shame...
Both scenarios, I had the pleasure of experiencing in the 2/5 no limit cash game at the Pendelton Oregon poker round up this last week. Sometimes expected but very unlucky to say the least. All part of the program when you sign up for playing this game.
The tournament had many a similar story for lots of folks I am sure. Each loser had their story to tell on how some other player made a dumb play and got lucky... That is poker folks.
